July 19, 2008 Tropical storm has set into the area no fishing last 2 days.
Going to try and fish Sunday the 20th.
Want a good trip try fishing around the inlets with live bait or along the beach in 25 to 35 feet of water.
Big kings and some tarpon have showed up.
Go offshore and sails in the 10 to 25 mile range with most in the 18 to 25 mile range.
Had great trip last week end missed another sail had nice mahi and kings all slow trolling dead cigar minnows!
Grouper are still biting offshore as well best bite in the 30 to 45 mile range! Try live pin fish for bait.
Call to book at trip! JULY 6th Fishing Update FIRST SAILFISH of the season was released on July 5th. Slow trolling 10 miles off the beach with dead cigar minnows! Very nice fish pictures to be in newspaper and Fisherman's Post in next couple of weeks!
Also caught Nice 30# king and other smaller ones.
Kings and Mahi doing great on 3/4 day trips in the 16 to 21 mile range. All have been caught slow trolling on light tackle!
Time to book trip and get in on the action! June2nd Update The fishing has been great!
The spanish are on the beach in huge numbers. Around the inlets and running all up and down the beach. Fish 20 to 25 feet of water and look for birds, jumping fish and bait!
Kings have been good in the 14 to 25 mile range no real big fish yet but plenty of 7 to 15 pound fish.
Mahi have been around 23 mile rock area.
Grouper bite is excellant gags in the 16 to 20 mile range and BIG red grouper farther out in the 30 to 40 range.
Stream trips have had wahoo, mahi and blackfin tuna. Missed a Marlin last trip.
Give me a call and book a trip water is looking great! April 28, 2008 Over the last 2 weeks weather became very nice and trips to the stream were very comfortable!
Made 3 stream trips!
Marlin were hooked and released at the 100 fathom break. In on the 30 fathom break blackfin tuna, mahi and wahoo were caught! Fished from North of the Nipple to south of the Same Ole. Look for bait and you should find fish.
Grouper bite is still very good in the 30 to 40 mile range.
Spanish hit the beach area Sunday and kings have been caught as close as 5 miles from the beach!
Best king bite was south of WR4 on the ledges 20 to 25 miles off shore!
Had limit of kings on Monday the 21st all caught at 16 to 24 miles off shore!
Call let's book a trip and go fishing!
April 19 , 2008 Went to the Gulf Stream it looked great temp break and flying fish all over.
Caught a few fish with some nice wahoo!
Should be getting very good soon!
Nearer to shore grouper are still a great catch.
Kings are with in 18 miles as of 4/21/08!
Real thich at 24 miles! Fast troll seawitch or drone spoon. Slow trolling dead cigars also very good!
Good fishing e mail or give me call let's go fishing!
Capt. Rod March 15, 2008 Nice sea conditions have allowed going to the gulf stream.
Catch of blackfin tuna, wahoo and mahi! A blue marlin was hooked at the 100 fathom curve. The fishing should only get better and was told the yellow fin were down off of Charleston last week. They should be making thier way north in the next couple of weeks.
The blackfin were caught way back behind the boat! Long lines were 200 plus yards out. Light leader and small baits were the ticket. Sreader bar rigs also scored well on the tuna!
Closer in caught grouper and snaller on the way home. Bottom fished in the 40 mile range with nice catch. Kings are still holding in the 68 degree water in the 40 mile range!
February 22, 2008 Update Spring is just around the corner and the offshore fishing is starting to pick up!
Time to get the boat ready, sharpen the hooks get new line on the reels and check out the tackle.
I highly suggest that if your boat has set all winter or even a few weeks drop it in the water get the motor running runn it for an hour in the water way make sure all ectronics are working ect! Best to do it on a Saturday when you can not fish than start off shore and have problems!
Gulf Stream - Blackfin Tuna have shown up along with some very nice wahoo! Pull up temp shot and look for the temp changes! Could be as much as 10 miles in shore of the break! When running out be sure to watch your temp gauge for changes!
Grouper are still going very strong in the 40 mile range!
Kings near the tower and I heard some actually near WR4. I was not there but I know push of water came in closer to shore and with that 66 degree water could well have been kings! Again look at water temp shot when planning your king trip! 66 plus degree water is the ticket! February 8, 2008 Update King Bite was excellant last week end. Found the fish 40 miles off shore in 65 degree water. They were holding over live bottom area we had caught them a few years back this time of year. Fast troll drone spoons and sea witch with belly strips or trolling deep diver plugs to find the fish then switch over to slow trolling dead baits! Nice fish with many near and over 20#.
Black sea bass bite also excellant last week end with many in the 3# range. Live bottom in the 25 to 30 mile range seemed to be best bite!
Grouper bite is on ledges 40 miles off shore.
No stream action to report!
Watch the water temps and locations were you find temp breaks and live bottom areas!
January 26th Update Well winter has set in! The warm water at the tower has gone! Done to 60 degrees this AM.
The black sea bass are still in the 20 to 30 mile range!
Grouper in the 35 to 45 mile range.
Kings - need to find that 67 to 68 degree water. Best with good bottom near by. Troill drone spoons and sea witches at 5 to 6 knots to locate the fish! Trolling deep diving plugs also work great to get deep! The fish are deep and you must get down to find them!
Gulf Stream has been hit and miss with a few blackfin and wahoo. There was some real nice temp breaks out on the shelf but the clouds have prevented a good water shot for days!
Will update again in next week or so.
Email if you want to discuss something! December 19,2007 Happy Holidays to all!
Many have winterized the boat already! Some of the best fishing can be found during this time of the year! The run to the fish is longer but the results are rewarding!
Nearer to shore try a bottom trip for Black Bass! Easy to catch and great table fare! 10 to 20 mile range live bottom and small ledges are best bets! Cut bait and squid will do the trick. 2 hook bottom rig is all you need.
30 to 40 Mile range - Grouper are thick! Look for ledges with good marks of fish. Anchor up and use cigar minnows, squid, cut bait or vertical jig! Move around until you locate the fish!
40 Mile range and near the tower KINGS!!! Know your limit and I suggest only keeping the bigger fish grap smaller fish by tail and release! Slow troll dead bait and have great action. Try some light spinning gear! 10# spinning gear with 20# plus king is a great fight! You will loose some fish but what sport! Be sure to stay out of the commerical boats way they are fast trolling.
Gulf Stream - Wahoo, Tuna, Mahi and Sailfish all caught is last 2 weeks! My last trip 2 weeks ago had sailfish and real nice wahoos! missed a number of fish that we felt were small tuna or more sails! Consult water temp cahrts find the temp breaks the closer to the bottom break the better!
Keep on fishing! Less boats and great potential.
Boats Shows in January! I will be at Greensboro January 4-6th. Seminars and working the Bug- Em- Bait booth. January 11-13th in Raliegh doing the same and January 25-27th in Richmond, VA! Stop by and see me or take in a seminar!
Hope to see all come 2008. Let's go fishing! I will continue to update my web site all winter! Fishing Report
October 21st, 2007
Can you say "FISH ON"! The near shore king bite has only gotten better since my last up date! Get some live bait if possible to get bigger fish! 7 to 10 miles off shore ledges and live bottom! Caught over 120 kings in last 10 days! 6 Over 30#, more than 30 over 20#. Call to book trip! 7 hour slow trolling with 20# test line is great sport with many times 3 or 4 fish on at same time. No live bait frozen cigar minnows or ballyho will get job done!
Grouper bite is going strong also like the 30 plus mile range for all varieties!
Stream is wahoo! Boats are catching 5 to 10 fish per trip! Some sails also have been caught plus a few mahi!
Give me a call! Fall fishing at it's finest!!!!
September 23, 2007
The weather turned great this week end!
Fishing is EXCELLANT!!
Want some near shore fun! Get live bait from near some of the artifical reefs and then slow troll alonng the 10 fathom curve area! 10 Mile rock, dredge wreck, ledges south of the dredge, 10 mile box cars are just a few of the posted spots. The 10 ile rock area is very good. Kings are plentyful!
Head off shore the kings are still very active and the grouper fishing is excellant some gags as close as 10 miles off shore! Further are gags, red and scamp grouper! They are so plentyful I have stopped keeping any red grouper under 23" even though the legal limit is 20" on reds!
Gulf stream wahoo bite is ON!!!! Time toi head to the break for great fall wahoo fishing. Mahi mixed in and would expect some tuna anytime soon! If you run mono leaders expect to loose lots of tackle! One baot last 10 rigs Saturday alone!
Book your trips! as water colls fishing will only get batter!
Capt. Rod

Well summer has come and gone too fast!
This was the year of the near shore sailfish!
Kings came into the 10 mile rock area in July with nice fish into the 30# range.
The mahi seemed to move farther north as the summer went on not like 2006 when I was catching 4 to 10 nice gaffer mahi per trip. Have started to catch a few of late in the 20 mile range. Looking for them to come back as the northern waters cool and they start the southern return trip. Look for that 78 degree water in October!
The grouper bite is on!!!!
Catching limit in just a couple hours on EVERY TRIP biggest gag has been 24# not keeping any red grouper under 23" even though the legal limit is 20"! TIME TO BOOK GROUPER TRIP!!! Also catching nice kings on lite lines while grouper fishing!
Looking for EXCELLLANT waho bite this fall in the stream! Last year caught sail in January!
Kings will stack up in the 10 mile range the 10 fathom places. Refer to NC Sprtsman article from last year on me and the GREAT king fishing in the fall at that range!68 degree water temps are what you need.
Book a king trip can do even on half day trip!
Fall is here and fishing will be GREAT!
April 15,2007
Since last report the week end weather was good 2 days and the rest were a blow out! Sometimes morth nature does not get the program together!
Gulf Stream - Yellow and Black Fin have started to show up. Need that good temperature break near the shelf and it is ON! Other wise real hit or miss. Wahoo continue to be good with some real nice 50# plus whoos being caught. Mahi have seen a couple when we get that good temp break. Had nice weed line 2 weeks ago but not a single mahi on it! The next coule of weeks it should really heat up!
KINGS in the 18 to 23 m ile range! Had nice catch of kings in last few days all inside of 25 miles! Also saw a number of flying fish in 68 degree water! Good signs for early summer!
No spanish yet water still near 60 degrees on the beach just need a solid week of nice warm weather and they should be here!
Bottom fishing is still very good with grouper and nice black bass.
Give me a call ot e mail and book a trip it should just get better and better as we head into May!
Tight lines and good fishing!
March 16, 2007
Well winter appears to be leaving us and the spring run in the stream has started!
Time to book April trip for the stream! Tuna have already arrived and the wahoo are big.
Bill fish have been caught and my last trip saw 3 free jumping!
I feel April will be hot and wide open!
Give me a call!
Closer to shore the kings are at 40 -45 mile range and could be moving nearer as soon as water warms up! I would guess with water moving in from stream could be at 23 mile rock before ned of April!
30 to 40 miles the grouper are biting!
Near shore no action to report just need some nice warm weather and a good strong east south east blow to move the warmer water in.
Mid April could see first spanish down near the shoals!
December 10,2006
The fishing is very strong kings at 40 miles all you want!
Gulf stream is GREAT! Wahoo and billfish. When weather is nice still need to go. It is alive with bait and the fish are there!

Sorry for the dealy in a fishing report but been on the water.
Upuntil the last couple of weeks when the seas got very rough and ocean got stirred up the fishing was very good. Catching kings and mahi in the 18 to 25 mile range. No huge kings but lots of fish caught slow trolling. Caught nice mahi in the 20# range on most trips.
Just went bottom fishing and if you want some great table fare book your trip for this fall. Caught full limit of grouper plus nice 10# red snapper out 30 miles. This is a 10 hour trip max 4 people.
The gulf stream is on and off so far this fall some trips nice catch of wahoo and a few black fin tuna. Sail fish also at the break.
Look for near shore kings to fire off as the water temp drops and the baits starts running the beach. Live bait trip will be red hot for larger kings in the fall! The shoals are good for kings as well as a 10 hour trip to the tower for some great action.
Give me a call or email and lets go fish this fall fishing will be very good a water temps drop. Saw 6 degree drop at the beach thsi alst week. Need to let the water clear alittle for near shore to be better.

Been fishing the last 2 days and things are starting to look up. Gulf stream is showing plenty of fish with lots of Mahi, few Wahoo, few Tuna and some King Mackeral. Inshore fishing is showing lots of Spanish Mackeral, Blue fish, few Bonita and some small King Mackeral mixed in. The Bad news is there is really no King Mackeral or anything else in between inshore and the Gulfstream. Hopefully soon the water will warm up and the bite will start.
Here are some pictures from are last gulfstream trip. Had a great catch of Wahoo, Tuna, and lots of Mahi.
